For the past week or so, I’ve had an issue with my stomach that I haven’t had for awhile. I’ll eat something, and about 5-10 minutes later my stomach starts to cramp up and I get really sharp pains. I had this issue last year which caused me to stop eating all together, and I have started that all over again. On new years of 2022, I was 190 Lbs- by the time December rolled around, I had lost 60 pounds (I was 130) from just not eating; I wasn’t trying to either. I’m at 140 right now which isn’t bad, but I just don’t want to start loosing too much weight again, you know? It’s just weird, I don’t know what causes the pain either. I have IBS, so it might just be a weird symptom of that but I don’t know for sure.

@Mafuyu most people actually have low stomach acid. I highly encourage you to ask your doctor about an h pylori breath test, or a stool test. Functional medicine practitioners run these tests but regular docs do as well

It could be h pylori. Do you take antacids? They're commonly taken but most ppl have low stomach acid, not high, even with GERD

@Smileys Yes, I take pantoprazole everyday for my acid!

IBS causes severe stomach cramping sometimes. I'd talk to your PCP or specialist about it and see about getting on meds for stomach cramping. I have EDNOS aswell as IBS, so im very aware that not eating for long periods can make the stomach pains resurface and be worse than before. They might need to do a colonoscopy (probably just one through your mouth with a small camera while you're out) but it might be necessary

@spicysugar Especially with it being right after eating I could see it being a stomach acid issue (I have GERD and very acidic spit because of it, so im sorry if you deal with that aswell)

It sounds like it could be exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. That's what I have. It's when your pancreas don't create enough enzymes to break down your food properly. Please look it up, read about it and talk to your doctor if the symptoms match what you're going through.

@AttilaHunny I had pancreatitis for about five years the doctors medicated me, then one day they said I no longer needed to take the medication. They said I was very sick, it’s funny because I didn’t feel any more sick than I do every day.🤷‍♀️

Were you experiencing a lot of anxiety and or stress when the pain started? I know for me personally, my IBS will flare up more when my stress and anxiety levels are high.

@MJ4E No I wasn’t; I’ve had that happen before but the past few times I’ve just eaten and then boom- pain. XD I wasn’t anxious or anything, just normal so that’s one reason why I’m confused.

@Mafuyu ugh IBS can be so unpredictable 🙄 I can't eat raw onions anymore and I never had a problem with them before but now all of the sudden I can't eat them 😭

One possibility for the stomach cramps and sharp pains could be related to your IBS, as some individuals with IBS experience pain after eating. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate guidance on managing your symptoms and maintaining a healthy weight.
