Anyone have driving anxiety? I get scared when driving unknown places or longer than 20-30 minutes.

I don’t even drive. But I want to so I don’t have to depend on anyone. But it terrifies me. The only thing motivating me is having a nice car lol.

Yes! Driving to unfamiliar places fills me with so much anxiety. It started when I moved across the country but I've recently moved back to where I'm from. So back to familiar roads! Which has luckily helped but it's still not always great. I always opt out of driving if I can.

I'm also an anxious driver. I try not to say to to invitations because of it, but it does happen.

I get a lot of anxiety driving... especially in the bigger cities around me. It doesn't help that if I get in a wreck or get a ticket I'll lose my job

I'm there with you. My first time remembering that moment was in 2019. Here it is 2022 and I still can't nor won't drive far. Like, just driving a single block... sends me through the roof!!! I take meds, but they're not working 😕

cars are so weird. it's like objectively weird to be in this big dumb mech and trying to pilot it thru dashed lines and not crash it into walls. I know a lot of people with anxiety driving. For me i always get concerned i made the other cars mad. have u considered public transit or biking?

@Skleek Ironically biking or even walking far triggers me. Like walking into a mall and then thinking “im how far from the car”

Always had driving anxiety. Not sure it will ever go away. Some situations worse than others. High traffic, snow, rain, deer, etc...

Absolutely!! I have found that looking at the roads and surrounding areas on Google maps has helped greatly! I also take a stuffed animal as my copilot so I don't feel like I'm alone in my car.

@Green_Goblin that’s funny. I might drive that. I have an old ALF

Yea I try not to say no going places by self. With someone else with me is way better and a great distraction.
