I have a lot of chronic pain but I almost never show it to my friends, even though they know i have these conditions. Its to the point where ive convinced them that my pain isnt bad at all or its non existent, so on days when my pain is unbearable i feel like i have no one to confide in. It’s definitely my fault and not theirs, but im not sure how to fix it. Any ideas or advice?

Living transparently and authentically with those close to you will be freeing for you and open space for them to share their own struggles. Just because they don't understand now, doesn't mean that they won't. Embrace the awkwardness of that initial conversation and enjoy a closer friendship. It is hard to know how often to share about it, but knowing they know what life is really like for you, will help you feel understood even when you don't know how to share. God bless

I’m the same way. I usually am more honest and open with my therapist and partner. They take the time to listen and understand. Most likely, you don’t want to go into detail about it because you’re afraid you’ll be bothering or they won’t care. Therapists are there to not only listen, but help you as well.
@D3stiny Yes exactly! I always feel like im bothering them or they don’t care, unfortunately I cannot afford a therapist at the moment. My mom shares some of the same health problems as me, so she is my outlet sometimes but now I live in a different state with my best friend who doesn’t quite understand. But since I got this app people like you seem to be helping it, so thank you! :)
My advice is to confide in a therapist. I’ve found that nobody will understand chronic pain that hasn’t experienced it themselves. So I don’t bother.
