Lack of Representation in Media for Black People

Hi so idk if there’s any fellow black people on here and ur free to comment even if u aren’t but it gets tiring with shows of early time periods animes and so many other things we are left out of it because of racism and people not wanting to create black characters or what African Americans as a whole were doing during a lot of these time periods were being slaves and they feel the need to be historically accurate so they include racism or just exclude us ie sons of anarchy ie attack on titan there was onyankapon I think I spelled that right but that’s one black person in the whole show and I just get tired of race being such a thing when it pertains to black people in shows why can’t we just exist and it not be about our skin this just kinda contributes to my depression sometimes and just a side note to everyone your beautiful!

      Of course, don't forget that there have been many positive portrayals of "people of color" in a lot of different shows/movies, for example, Lt Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg), Capt. Sisko (Avery Brooks)... okay, yeah those are are from Star Trek, but then again, even "God" was black (Morgan Freeman) in the Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty movies. I definitely agree that color should not (and does not in my book) have any bearing on a person's worth as a human being (for we are all of one race, the human race).

      Most of the time for anime specifically there isn’t a lot of black representation due to racism but actually because there just isn’t a lot of black Japanese people. If you see newer anime they tend to be more diverse for the same reason there’s more a influx of black Japanese citizens due to immigration.
