Hey y’all! I’ve recently been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, by recent I mean probably 1 week ago. I got put on budenoside to try to calm it down, I was wondering if anyone else has ever taken that med? If it helped or ended up having to switch? I’ll also take any advice/things that y’all have found to help that isn’t medications. This was a very unexpected diagnosis so I think I’m still in shock😅.

I was diagnosed late February and really haven’t gotten clarity on it all yet. I’m here for others feedback. I have been on prednisone with horrible reactions, but layoffs rid me of my insurance and I’m in this wonky sticky spot.

One extra note, I always take medication for my Crohn's, but I'm on the SCD diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) that my GI doctor recommended. I've been on it for 1.5 years and can't attest to it being a cure or anything, be it has 100% helped me keep normal weight and to have energy to workout.

I've taken budesonide and it didn't really work. I had only had success with Prednisone for a flare prior. Then my insurance changed for a different flare, in which budesonide was the preferred brand and the only one my insurance covered. After using it, and no significant changes, my doctor was able to help me get covered for Prednisone my making note of budesonide being ineffective. There's lots of people who have benefited from budesonide, and supposedly it has less side effects than Prednisone, but it just didnt do much for me.

I was not on that specific steroid but i was on steroids (prednisone) for a while to get the inflammation down in my body while they tried to get me on a biologic, hopefully they plan on putting you on something else steroids can be rough especially long term, i havent had my diagnosis too long but if youd like to talk or ask questions im here!

I was initially on prednisone after diagnosis, then they switched me to biologics shortly after

I have this med, but for my nebulizer... not my crohns. My understanding is that steroids are often used in the short term to treat more severe flares, and then patients are switched to biologics for long term management

usually that medication is used for uc, and ive never been on it, but i know that being diagnosed with crohns so unexpectedly is incredibly confusing and difficult, so if you need someone to talk to, im always here :)
