I have it too, but everyone has a different view of the situation and remember things differently

I have both false memories, which is common with PTSD, as well as a very inattentive/uncaring parent who frequently claims to not remember things that definitely happened. I also have this vague memory of my childhood dog's last puppy of her only litter to be adopted out, including his name and several accurate details about him all of which have never been discussed with me directly and I didn't bring it up until I was a teen. But I was slightly younger than a year old when he was adopted and some of the surrounding memory is fairly dream like which has left both me and my father at a loss for an explanation of why I have these memories that he himself can hardly remember.

@AnimalBoy i’m gonna look up false memories! thank you for bringing that up, there’s just no way the things i remember are not real.. it’s just so crazy to me! i have memories of me as a young girl watching my mom get stabb*d, like what??? it was too vivid to not be real i am so confused

@Cvprisun from what my therapist explained they're essentially just memories that you have that your brain made up as a response to trauma, the situation you remember didn't really happen but it is technically a real memory because of the way it's stored in the brain and how you process it, and therefore it's just as vivid and effects you as any other memory would even though it never happened/ you didn't personally experience it. I have quite a few plus huge gaps in my memories to the point that the only ones I fully trust are ones that have proof like pictures or scars or mementos, luckily for some reason that's most of them lol
