Has anyone had an ablation on their heart dues to A fib? Scary? Long recovery? I was told I should have it done but it hasn’t been scheduled yet and I don’t know anything about them.

Mary_Jill , I have had 2 cardiac ablations for afib. The first one took 2 to 3 days to recover. The second one was totally uneventful. Ready to go home as soon as I woke up. I was 71 years old when I had the first ablation and 73 when I had the second. I felt so much better. I had a pacemaker when I was about 72. These procedures have made a tremendous difference in my life.

I’ve had an ablation a few years ago. It was an overnight stay and recuperation was a few days.

I had my done 6 months ago. About 3 or 4 days of taking it easy. After that I was doing good. I understand about being a little scared about it. This was my first one. I've been diagnosed with AFib for 8 years now. I'm 58 years old. You'll do good. Just listen to your Dr.

I had a cardiac ablation about 6-weeks ago. I had absolutely no issues. I had some chest pressure the day after and 2 or 3 days later I had an increased heart rate a couple of times and then nothing since. I have to do a cardiac monitor about 6-months after the ablation but they felt like it was successful the day it was done. I was told it’s always better to do this earlier than later for a better success rate. Good luck!
