Is medication worth it or not? I’ve been seeing a lot of posts that say medication isn’t supposed to help in the long run, nor does it fix issues (it actually causes more issues). I’ve tried mindfulness and seeing a few therapists, but that hasn’t helped. I wonder if medication would help at all, but just worried of feeling numb and even more disassociated than I already am.

I agree that it cannot fix issues but some issues cannot be fixed without the extra help. If you take medication and see a therapist while doing so, your likelihood of recovery is way higher than using one or the other by itself. Using medication without therapy will cause more harm than good but pairing the 2 is going to give you a much better result if therapy alone isn’t enough for you! I just started using meds this past year and it’s been life changing!

I don’t really have experience with anxiety meds…. but depression meds vary depending on the person and medication. For me, I’ve found that getting on meds and seeing a therapist has been the most helpful. The frustrating part of meds for mental illness/health is that it’s hard at first to find the right fit. If you go through with trying meds, don’t give up right away if the first thing you try doesn’t work. That’s just my take on it…. I hope you find what works best for you! 💕
