I'm not officially diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome but I'm pretty certain I have it based on my symptoms and how they progressed over the years. how do I bring this up to my doctor and make sure I'm being heard.

I was 100% sure I had IBS. But it ended up being Celiac and Anxiety.... you can just explain that you have been suffering from your symptoms for a certain period of time. They will likely run some blood work for inflammatory disorders. Be specific in the timeliness and jot down what you eat and how you feel after. That also helps with diagnosis. If it has been over a month of stomach pain, cramps, bloating, and loose stool than it might be IBS. Good thing is if it is IBS you just have to figure out which foods trigger it. Good luck!!

Yes thank you I will try all of that. I'm currently recovering from surgery after breaking my right knee so I've been stuck at home except for the surgery and doctors appointments since April but as soon as I can get up and around to go see my PCP I will do that.

@MaeveyWavy lately it seems to be anything I eat and I haven't had solid bowel movement in over 6 months. It's worse when I'm on my menstrual cycle (I don't feel my cramps though) and when it's really bad I have to vomit and I start sweating bullets.

@Ladyrevloon18 Same here and I have done a lot of test with my GI. I'm going to blame it on anxiety and stress.

@Ladyrevloon18 def go to your pcp. I had the same for about 3 months, but I would be bloated all the time, get cramps and pain in my lower abdomen ,almost felt like period cramps but it was gluten destroying my small intestine apparently. I stopped having gluten but my doctor said it would take my body a couple months to heal. You could also have a virus that requires antibiotics. I hope your able to see someone soon and they take you seriously. That has been my biggest hurdle is telling the doctors that something is wrong and them refusing to run tests. I had to go through 4 doctors before my current pcp decided to run some tests for inflammatory and autoimmune. When I have lots of stress and anxiety I start to have digestive issues again. I really good it gets better. Make sure your staying hydrated and replenishing your sugars, pottasiums, and sodium since your losing alot of it. I don't want you to faint. šŸ¤—
