I've been only sleeping during daylight due to night terrors and being scared to sleep in the dark, what should I do (mind you I'm pregnant)

I like to walk in the woods and have environment changes. Try at home aroma therapy with incense or smth idk how pregnancy works

I’d listen to a comedy tv show that makes you feel at ease to help distract your brain from those fears and put some maybe positive thoughts in your head before you fall asleep. I had to for a few years

@Cece7 i agree. Humor before bed definitely helps!
It sucks because besides having nightmares I LOVE to sleep in the dark. But as soon as i wake up from a bad dream i scramble to the lights on.

i go through episodes of struggling with night terrors as well, i found that being anxious before bed really triggers them. i try to watch a funny tv show to fall asleep to so that i can sleep with a good head space has helped so much! & i also have LED lights that i turn to a comforting color (for me its a dark blue). being able to see my surroundings when i wake up from a nightmare helps me tremendously so i hope these suggestions help you too! 💕

@neonbirds the comforting colors thing makes a lot of sense, I'm going to have to try that

I have a light on in my room that's bright enough to light the entire room but dim enough to not be super distracting. Preferably in a corner. I dont feel as well rested but no nightmares or less recovery time from one. Make sure the lightbulb I'd yellow/orange and not one of those bright super white led bulbe
@Lucas.exe I used to have an orangeish yellow light in my room when I was a tad bit younger but it seemed to scare me being able to see everything in my room as soon as I wake up in the middle of the night
@thatweirdspice really? Never heard that before! Darkness it is 🤗
I'm also on the prazosin it works really well but if you get up in the middle of the night definitely make sure you set on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before you stand cause with it being a blood pressure med it will make your heart race and you'll get a little dizzy if you stand to quickly....I kept forgetting to do so when I first started taking it and would just kinda stumble to the bathroom lol
@Dawn1389 true that lol 😆
@Dawn1389 thank you for the advice

I use nightlight and fans to drown out noises I think I hear. I have terrible night terrors and even during the day. It's like I can't get away

@ShoobyDoobyDoo91 that’s a good point, I have a noise machine I use that I love. I listen to ocean waves lol
@ShoobyDoobyDoo91 I have a fan in my room as well, mainly because I like the almost white noise it gives off
I’ve been on prazosin for nightmares for a few months and it’s been wonderful for me. It is a blood pressure med too apparently, so I don’t know if it’s safe considering you’re pregnant, but it’d be something to look into maybe in the future if you’re still struggling!
@packersfan95 thank you so much for your help, I will talk to both my OBGYN and psyc doctor about that and see if it's something I can try at some point, thank you 💕💕
It doesn't matter when I sleep I wake up form nightmares, I definitely would suggest some type of low light source....and talk to a doctor about medication that has helped me sooo much I have gone from have nightmares nightly and usually multiple times a night sleeping for 2-4 hours max to having 2-3 nightmares a week and 6-8 hours of sleep

@lilkitten 💖
Sleep with a nightlight i have bad sleep paralysis sometimes and it has even happened during the day so i would talk to your doctor about it they have medicine for that. Hope you start to feel better soon ❤️
@lilkitten thank you so much for the suggestion, I will definitely give it a try!
