My mom and her new husband have been abusive towards each other. Every weekend they fight and most of the time get physical, it’s always when they’re drinking. My mom’s an alcoholic so she’s drinking always, which makes it hard to talk to her. Most of the time I just hide in my room with my little sister, sometimes I have to intervene to calm stuff down. I just stopped him from breaking down my mom’s bedroom door and he came at me aggressively. I managed to calm him down surprisingly but he kept talking about how my mom cheated. I asked how he knew and he avoided answering multiple times. Now they have each others phones but he left, They put their hands on each other tonight too. I want to call the police but my mom’s against it and I’m afraid of what will happen if I do. I know if she doesn’t leave him this will continue, I can’t keep doing this and I can’t just leave. If anyone has any advice where calling the cops is a last resort it’d be helpful.

It's important to prioritize your safety and the safety of your little sister. Reach out to a trusted adult, such as a teacher, guidance counselor, or a relative, and let them know about the situation. They may be able to provide support and help you explore options for ensuring your safety without immediately involving the police.
