Has anyone tried Botox for their chronic migraines? If so how was/is your experience and do you recommend. My order is suppose to arrive next week at the office and I’m a little nervous but hoping this will work.

I'm in the same boat with chronic migraine, I've exhausted just about every preventative for migraines (amitriptyline, topamax, propranolol, emgality, and now qulipta) I have a triptan that works when I need it but my neuro wants to start Botox and I'm very anxious and hesitant about it.

I think it depends on underlying causes. If you tend to carry tension in you neck and jaw it will help. It helps with mine but my migraines are so complicated that i still get migraine symptoms almost daily. I am on so many meds. It is what it is.

@Elle92 I have my neurologist put Botox in my jaw and neck as well as my head when I get my injections which helps somewhat

I just got another round yesterday! I don't do well with needles at all, and I get 31 injections at a time. The base of my skull and space above my ears is the most painful. It feels like a bee sting and always gives me a migraine, from the anxiety and obviously all the injections. I did it for three years (with just emergency medication as needed) and noticed a decrease in severity. My headache specialist wanted me to try it while also using Emgality once a month for prevention, so I started back up last year (this was such a pain to get insurance to cover both, though). So far they are less severe and a little less frequent! Down to maybe 3-4 a week instead of everyday. I would recommend giving it a try! I'm sure they told you, but they say you need at least 3 rounds to notice a difference.
@PruneyHam thank you so much! I use to take emgality and I understand the pain with the insurance companies💀 it be a dreadful time until they finally approve. I don’t know why emgality stopped working for me but that is why im moving on trying the Botox. I really appreciate your comment!❤️

I’ve found that Botox had been what helps most for my migraines. It doesn’t get rid of them completely but it definitely makes it more manageable. I hope it works for you!
@Allie8 thank you!! ❤️
I have been doing Botox on and off for almost 10 years for my Botox sometimes it helps and others times because of stress or my other medical conditions it doesn’t! But overall I would keep trying it because it should help over time!
I had them when I was younger (around 16). The injections into my scalp were the worst part for me. I’m not sure if they usually do as many injections as they did on me (my mom got significantly less), but it was pretty painful. The procedure only took away 1-2 levels of pain and that was only from my moderate daily migraines, not my super horrible ones. Going from a 5/10 to a 4/10 daily wasn’t exactly life-changing for me lol I also couldn’t move my face, and I really hated that feeling (that’s personal preference though). For me, it wasn’t worth doing. I really hope it works for you though! :) Good luck!! ♥️
@InkyStar Thank you! ❤️
