Please, for the love of god, somebody tell me something I can do right now!!! I have a million things wrong with me right now, and among them are blurred vision due to possible pink eye, and extreme hypersensitivity in my hearing due to a neurological condition. I desperately need something to do to distract myself so I don't snap. But what the hell could I possibly do when I can barely see, and any amount of sound makes me want to puncture my eardrums?!?!? I AM NOT LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON WAYS TO TREAT THESE TWO ISSUES. I just need something to occupy myself. And for the person wondering how I typed all this when I can barely see... I did it very slowly. It took me a solid 10-15 minutes to make out what letters I was typing.

Maybe do something like playing with play doh or sand or something that distracts your senses in other forms like smelling essential oils or tasting a favorite dish. I would try to work on focusing on what you can touch, smell and taste since the hearing and sight is really struggle right now.

since it's been ~16 hours since you posted this, i assume you're feeling better. hopefully. sorry i wasn't here last night to talk to you! next time this happens, noice canceling headphones, lights off, and something to fidget with should help. if you have nothing to fidget with, snacks are a great distraction. also, warm damp wash cloth on the eyes.

Hey man, talk to your neurologist. I'm sorry to tell you this, but I don't think non-pharmacotherapy is gonna be possible without medication to "convince you to jump into the deep-end" with your other forms of therapy. That's what it's like for me, and we basically have the same differences from the rest of the population, on average. So talk to a neurologist about your migraine headaches. They'll know the right path better than we will. Maybe it's not drugs, either. They can prescribe non-pharmaceutical intervention, too! Have you ever tried hypnosis? It's hard to find a psychologist nowadays who is also an experienced hypnotist, too. But hypnotism definitely helps when meditation is nigh impossible.
Do you mind if I ask how long have you have had noise sensitivity for?
@Sunshineseeker90 Have you tried noise desensitization therapy? I don't know much about it. I'm sorry to hear about the pink eye. That sucks.
Hot baths are one of my top relaxation methods, one of the few times I don't feel the need to be on an electronic device as well.

@Sunshineseeker90 I'm doing good just to take a shower. To get down in a bathtub would be a real challenge for me to get up from the bathtub.
Everyone else who commented was so helpful like the dark room and having smells and cold and just put your thoughts elsewhere to help distract you from the pain. You all are amazing at coping skills
You saw a doctor for any of this ??? That would probably help . I say medical help
Okay, just a note for you, I know this might come off preachy or annoying, but please. Try to change the way you talk about yourself regarding the conditions you experience. Saying you have so many things ‘wrong with you’ affects how you feel about yourself and the things that are affecting you. There’s nothing wrong with you, you aren’t wrong, you aren’t any more or less flawed than everyone else :) I’ve been practicing saying, instead of ‘___ is wrong with me’ or ‘___ is a defect/disorder/issue/problem I have’, I try to say things like ‘___ is one of the struggles I have’ or ‘___ is a difficulty/challenge/struggle/thing I live with/part of what makes me who I am’ that sorta thing. Again, I’m not trying to act like I’m saying anything you haven’t heard, and I’m not trying to preach/be corrective. Just wanted to offer this as something that could be helpful, but if it isn’t that’s okay. At least you’re aware of one more person who sees you as valuable and worth trying to help, and someone who heard your story :) ALSO maybe distractions could be something hands-on, like coloring/painting/writing/crafts, or possibly video games that don’t require sound, or reading books. Hope this helps and sorry if I over explained myself

At times, noise cancelling headphones (or earbuds if I cant take the pressure of the headphones) with binaural beats at a volume level of 1 can sometimes soothe me on my hypersensitive days (its less maddening for me than the pressure vacuum of absolute quiet). Sorry in advance if it doesnt help
Laying in the dark isn't a bad idea tho. I'm sorry if this is dumb, but maybe hold ice or something that engages your other senses and distracts the initial pain. Drawing patterns with your hands. Again, I'm sorry I'm not familiar with this so this may not at all be helpful.

@chronicchemist again, no offense, but I don't think you actually read my post. Any kind of sound is literal torture right now.
@NervousDepresso I think you mean total offense with this one because I can read, but thanks for checking in to see if I can ❤️. Go lay in a dark room and go to bed at this point
I'm sorry.......I try to answer each ones message. Will try to be better at answering your text.😥
You might think this is crazy but when I feel overwhelmed I just go to my adult coloring book and start coloring. I start feeling a calmness come over me. Give it a try. What have you got to lose?
@Lani_Girl no offense, but I don't think you actually read my post. Understand, that I can barely see right now. I'm only able to type using speach-to-text, and trying as hard as I can to see if there are any errors I have to fix.
