TW- ed behaviors i’ve had anorexia for 4 years and this is the worst it’s ever been. i’m hovering right above being underweight and i want to stop this before it gets there. my biggest problem right now is a lack of hunger signals. i’m rarely physically hungry and when i eat i feel very full after a few bites. i feel like i’m failing. any advice on how to get over this hump? i’m hoping that when hunger comes back it’ll be easier but i know that can take a long time.

you’re not failing if you’re persevering! firstly, good for you for seeking help NOW!! it’s totally understandable that your hunger/fullness cues are MIA. i’ve been in recovery since 2019 with a major relapse last year — my hunger/fullness cues still haven’t quite gotten there completely (but they’re a lot better!) there’s a lot of mechanical eating that goes on, especially in the beginning. it sucks to chow down on autopilot because otherwise you won’t get adequate nutrition, but i PROMISE YOU that eating won’t always be such a chore. if you can, see a dietitian who can give you a meal plan & work through this (and who is trained for EDs; look for HAES practitioners!) there’s so much more — ping me for any more questions or rambles ❤️
