i just found this term, allodynia, and i want to know if this is the correct term for me. is allodynia where you skin feels bruised but looks fine? here's my experience. if someone pokes me, if i'm hugged just a little too tight, if i scratch an itch, my skin feels like a sharp bruise, all over. when i'm really stressed, i experience extreme pain in my legs, even without touch. sometimes i can't even put a sheet over my legs without feeling excruciating bruised-like pain. when i was desperately researching this, all that came up was fibromyalgia. i wasn't quite sure why or how, but i'm thankful i found the term to such a condition. not only do i think this pain is caused by fibromyalgia, but i also experience other symptoms of it too that i didn't have an answer to prior. though now, i'm realizing that myalgia is not the same as the pain i feel, and that i while i do experience chronic myalgia, i experience this bruised-like pain much, much more often. i believe i've had this pain all my life. i've always been physically sensitive, but everyone in my life shrugged it off as exaggeration, even though it has never been in my nature to seriously do so.
