A few weeks ago, I was in the hospital for a mental health crisis. As much as I hated being there (I cried to go home every single day), I find myself missing the routine and disconnection from the stressful world I experienced there. Sometimes part of me wants to put myself in a crisis again just to go back, even though I know I don't really want to. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! After getting out of inpatient, I missed the daily focus on recovery and the support and routine of everything. I wanted to be around people who had similar experiences to me and understood what I was going thru. As well, it was nice not to have social/physical obligations and I didn't have to worry about the anxiety of making decisions bc they were made for me. When I was feeling this way, it showed me that I needed to be closer to a mental health-centered community. I stepped down to a PHP (partial hospital program) which is basically kind of a little similar to being inpatient for me which is just an all day program with psr (psychosocial rehabilitation) and group classes and then down to an IOP (intensive outpatient) which is like a half-day program. And going back to work a day or two at a time, I found that stepping down thru those programs helped me feel better about transitioning back to the world. You still get similar support just not as intensive & you don't have to spend the night. Which was the worst part for me, that and the decaf coffee š What you're feeling is normal and there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe see if those are options in your area? Hospitals have them and other mental health facilities. That way you still get the structure but get to go home at night. I hope you find something that helps with how you're feeling and meets your needs and that helps you get the care you need. Good luck! If you wanna talk, my inbox is always open.
