Do you ever struggle with communicating with neurotypicals/people without debilitating mental illnesses? I’ve tried talking to several of my friends and my current partner about how much harder my life is bc of my mental illnesses, but it seems like it goes in one ear and out the other. Which leads to me having to re-explain my experiences and thought processes over and over. There have even been times where my friend would accidentally trigger me (happened multiple times) because he kept forgetting that hitting me (even playfully) is a BIG no-no for me. I’m just tired of having to defend myself and having to reiterate things constantly, just to have them be ignored/forgotten. Any advice?

I really relate to this. My friends never remember that playful hitting or saying certian things can be really triggering. Something that I use a lot is DEAR MAN. It's a lot to explain so you can either look it up or message me and we can talk about it :). I find it's very helpful with setting boundaries. But it's important to remember that if you are attempting to set boundaries and they aren't being respected and followed, how is the relationship really? Just some food for thought :)
