my ocd and anxiety are getting to the point where it’s affecting my work. i spend so much of my time staring at my calendar worried i’m missing or forgetting something. my boss sent out an email saying that we weren’t doing enough work when we worked from home and i’m so worried it’s about me - the reality is i tried so hard to get things done, i’m just struggling. i can’t concentrate on anything. i don’t know what to do and i’m worried she will think it’s a cop out if i tell her im struggling with my anxiety

@cilantrohater I know the feeling! I always feel guilty as if I’m not trying my best or doing enough. I’m always so hard on myself, but then it causes panic attacks so I try to give myself a break and then I feel lazy, it’s a lose lose lol
I have been in this exact position and I am somewhat going through it now. My OCD doesn’t affect my work as badly as it used to but my anxiety affects how well I can handle the stresses of my job if that makes any sense. I would highly recommend being up front and honest and if they choose to discriminate you for your mental illness then you have another situation on your hands. Hope this helps!

@Brgrnlx I’m glad I’m not the only one. it makes me so self conscious and I’m worried people think I’m lazy. thanks for understanding :)
A lot more people are willing to be understanding if you're vulnerable and upfront! "Hey, I'm so sorry that my work hasn't been up to par. To be totally honest and vulnerable with you, I suffer from ocd and anxiety. With that comes a lot of challenges, my mental health hasn't been well lately. I'm working hard to improve my work for you and make sure I'm up to your standards, can you let me know specifically anything you'd like me to improve? Clear cut instruction can temper the worry that results from my anxiety and ocd about meeting expectations. I truly appreciate your kindness and understanding, this has been earnestly quite difficult"
@DollyLeeQuacks thanks for your advice :) i’m definitely considering saying something bc i’m getting to a point where i feel like i don’t have another option lol! it’s actually my internship & im getting my masters, so i’m nervous she won’t want to actually hire me on once i graduate. but oh well at this point….. you’re right and i might as well just be honest

@cilantrohater you want an employer that is conscious of their employees mental health though! If she didn't want to hire you, count that as a blessing that she weeded herself out in advance
