As someone who's autistic and a trans man, I feel it somewhat ridiculous that if I get my official autism diagnosis, it could prevent me from transitioning

@flyingcoco18 Alternatively, do you live near a liberal US city or somewhere you'd be able to access informed consent based healthcare? There's healthcare centers that offer trans healthcare without psych letters for adults in many places, they often just have a really long waiting list and are iffy with health insurance companies, although I've found a lot that offer sliding scale pricing. I'm in the deep south šŸ˜ and that's what I plan on doing once I have a more stable financial situation, get on a waiting list and then drive into the city for my healthcare

Are you in a position where you could choose not to share it with your medical doctor(s)? I'm diagnosed autistic and trans (haven't medically transitioned yet either) but I don't allow my psychiatric professionals to share records with my primary doctor or the doctor's office I get physical health care at. There's a lot of stigma against mental illness & neurodivergencies and I'm just too paranoid after having issues from sharing an anxiety diagnosis as a youth (I have a health condition that causes fast heart rate & fainting which was blamed on my anxiety for an excessive amount of time) I disclose medications and anything relevent to my physical healthcare teams, but beyond that, it's not necessary for my physical doctors to know any more information about my psyche than I choose to present them with

Where are you in the world? I am a diagnosed autistic ftm without any transitions. I would like to know your country/state because I want to research if this is something that I should be concerned of this too. I am already concerned about possibly transitioning (I am uncertain of what I want for myself) and am sorry you have to deal with this. If you would like to rant or just chat, I would love to talk with you.
