Hey I’m pretty new with my ocd. It first showed up about 6 months ago. Was just told by a psychiatrist yesterday that I have it. Everything feels so bleak and helpless. Has anyone else gone through this? I’ve just been placed on fluoxetine aswell

Yes it can feel like that. It is something you have to work at constantly but you will develop techniques that help you get through it and it gets a little bit easier. Find a good therapist and good doctor to help find the right meds. I would also invest in some ocd work books, essential oils help calm the mind when it gets out of control, chamomile tea help calm, and worse case scenario an off label use for benadryl helps with anxiety/ocd for when it gets really bad

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 16 so 5 years ago, it does get easier to manage and also I’ve kinda gotten used to it. Definitely therapy and practicing challenging the thoughts of you can helps. I can’t do that often but I feel so powerful when I do!

I can really relate to what you're going through. OCD can be rough and debilitating, but I have to say that after a few weeks of drugs like fluoxetine and some therapy, your world will feel much more optimistic. OCD can be lived with, so keep your hopes up.

Hey Poot, I know the feeling you described. When I was diagnosed with OCD I also felt that nothing could help me. I thought I was going crazy. I also take Fluoxetine, which helps with that problem, but it takes around a month until it's effective, so be patient. Maybe you can take benzodiazepines this month to improve your feeling.
