What sort of tools, activities etc... do you use when the dissociation is really hitting hard that day?

It always depends on how bad it is, but assuming I can kinda still function, anything that keeps my brain going. I’m a musician so most of these will be music related, but anything music really helps me. If I feel myself going, I will really really pay attention to what is going on in a song. What is the Bass doing? What does the song mean? That also being said, I love to play drums if I’m at home because it makes me focus on the music, I’m doing math, and I’m keeping myself physically active so I am more engaged and have a harder time “losing” my limbs. I also will call if a friend if possible and just talk. It could be anything from how you are feeling to your favorite show or trying to recall your day. Actively engaging in conversation as much as possible keeps those cogs in your brain moving. I also like meditative breathing and practices because it makes you absolutely aware of something in your body. I normal use this at work because my phone and musical instruments aren’t available. Also, breathing like that forces your body to calm down if you are dissociating from stress. I’m sure you’ve heard this one as well, but try to engage all 5 senses. Describe how something feels. Describe what you are smelling. Describe something you can taste (maybe have a pack of gum with you or something you can pull out to meet this one!). Describe what you are seeing. Describe what you are hearing and really pay mind to all of these. I hope these help and I’m always here if you need to talk!

yess distraction. Honestly it not distraction it's just living your life. Dissociation goes away on its own when you don't give it attention.

Exercising, going outside, distracted yourself but nothing over stimulating. For me loud noses and bright lights make it worse. Focus on anything but dissociation, organize you room, focus on studying, or plan out a fun vacation. Focus on achieving your goals. Remember you are ok I promise. This will pass.

Honestly. I just talk to my friend or play videogames with them to distract myself. Listening to music also helps me a lot
