how do you cope with the emotional aspect of splitting? when i split on someone i take space from them so i don’t end up saying something i’ll regret. however, this doesn’t change that the emotional aspect of splitting is very difficult for me.

Completely agree ^^^ with BPD I don’t think there is much we can do about controlling how we feel. We only have control over how we respond to that feeling. Feelings are valid and completely okay to have, and even though it sucks a lot, it can’t harm you and it will pass. Just gotta cope until it does.

I do the same thing. The most important thing for me is not hurting anyone else, so putting space between me and them is the best course of action in my mind. I like to use my DBT skills to distract myself and calm down and try to remember that not everything is black and white, even when it feels like it is. :-)
