Mostly just stay calm about it. If you are in the USA, depending on the state, you can get SSI as autism is seen as a disability.
I'd suggest talking more with a doctor about that if you are in the USA.
Depending on the function of your autism, a furry companion might help or even plants and small objects like statues or toys can help.
If you need help with sensory issues I can gladly help you.
Hopefully it can be a reason to get to know yourself even better. It can be stressful at first but once you figure out what works for you, thing make a lot more sense. Good luck. Lots of love ❤️
I was recently diagnosed as well. It made so much sense, and I'm glad I know now. It's hard to accept, but while this is a disability it doesn't mean there is something wrong with you that you need to cure. This is just part of who we are, and there is nothing wrong with it.
I'd encourage you to do some research about ASD so you can better understand how it affects you and how you can better cope. The easiest way is to watch YT videos made by other ASDs. Here is a podcast that has helped me a lot https://open.spotify.com/show/40KiF6VJSdDUMxY0XtBBBn
The most important thing is to never give up. Just like how NTs have their own issues, they have to pursue to improve, so do we. Ours are just not straightforward to them, and the world is not made for 6 we do make the world a better place.
What they said... and remember, you're still you and you can still do anything now you would have done without the diagnosis. Life with autism is just as good as life without it if you let it be. Just different.
