I'm so nauseous this morning. I called out of work because of it. I hate calling out. It makes me feel guilty. Current boss is understanding of my health issues, but I have trauma from a volatile workplace from a previous job. the last month or so, I've wanted to call out almost every day because I feel awful almost all the time. I am definitely unwell enough to need to stay home, but I can't stop feeling guilty

I understand how you feel. I also feel guilty when I call out and I rarely do unless it’s an emergency or so. Please take care of your health. There is nothing more important than that. I have learned throughout the years that jobs will replace you in an instant so you need to prioritize yourself so you can be well enough to go back. Use self care, do something nice for yourself at least once a week. I work in the mental health field and it’s so taxing that it’s important for me to take time out for myself and when I do I don’t feel as bad anymore. We are all deserving of that. I am really happy that you have an understanding boss. I know from experience what bad leadership can do to you mentally and physically as well. Hope you feel better soon.

I know this pain 😥 I eventually quit my job altogether because the stress of calling off sick all the time made my health 10x worse and I just couldn’t work anymore. You have to prioritise your health! I’m on disability now and I’m working on my health before I even consider going back to work!

I feel you! I’ve had gastric issues for 8 months and on multiple occasions have had to call in sick to work and to uni and have had to ask for extensions just because I’ve had debilitating nausea. If you haven’t tried already, buccastem works like a treat for me for severe nausea! (You can get it otc in any pharmacy) and please don’t beat yourself up about calling in sick. People don’t understand how horrible it is to have gut issues until they themselves experience it. It’s honestly the worst. Hope you get some answers soon and start recovering! Xxx
