I have in the past run the gambit when it comes to eating disorders. Many people in my family have anorexia or bullemia, and I was intentionally starved as a child and constantly told I was fat though I was actually severely underweight and suffering from malnutrition. It kind of messed me up. I tend to go through a cycle of binge eating for a few months, then binge/purge when I decide I am too fat, then just purging constantly every tiny thing I eat, then just not eating all together for a long time until I decide I am sick of being hungry and start all over. I have been able to stop this to an extent the last couple years but I still overeat and tend to drink a lot of alcohol. Has anyone else been through this and been able to find a healthy stasis in recovery?

I have a history of an eating disorder and spent a lot of time in treat centers and therapy. Finding a dietitian, therapist, and if possible and general doctor that specialize in eating disorders can make a huge difference. There are also eating disorder anonymous 12 step groups that can help. It is possible to recover. I used to dream about a life without my ED, and now my life is even sweeter than I thought it could be. It takes so much hard work, but I promise it is worth it.

Holy cow I’m so sorry to hear about your upbringing…. eating disorders are definitely torturous to the one who has it but to project it onto your children is a new low. I find myself going through cycles of feeling ok and confident and others where I’m super low and down bad. I understand completely ❤️
I have a cycle too i eat then purge for a few weeks then i go a few months with eating normal. What i do is try not to focus on the calories and just be happy with your weight but thats just me cause i love the tasted of food so sometimes i over eat but have you try seeing a dietian

@laceyandme yeah. She taught me about balanced diets, but she didn't help much with the disorder side of things.
@Lizardpeoplearereal oh im sorry to hear that. Maybe a therapist will help more with disorder side
