so I'm 29 and live with my parents because of my epilepsy. I can't drive. sometimes I'll be on the couch playing my switch and my step-dad comes into the room and all of the sudden I feel like a thousand eyes are on me thinking, wow she's almost 30. she's the last one here. get rid of her already. does anyone else understand? my depression has spiked as well as my anxiety

Hang in there. I am about to be 32 this month and i have been seizures since i was 10 years old. My epilepsy has been controled since i was around 28 due to cbd oil. I thought that maybe i would be able to get my drivers license since it's been controlled. (i never made it to 6 months on any AED medication) i went to my neuro and he said that the only way i could get it is if i got back on pills (and stayed seizure free šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø) or tried a VNS. So i refused and now Im guessing ill never have my license. How often do you have seizures and do you have a job? If you are unable to work and you don't have disability you should def. Get a disability lawyer and go for it. Try to find something to do throughout the day if u can , maybe do some online schooling or volunteer your time.

I canā€™t drive because of my epilepsy either, and every family member except my mom is always asking ā€œwhen you getting your license?ā€ Maybe when I can go more than a week without losing control of a limb or having an absence seizure. Iā€™m 25 and didnā€™t get on meds until four years ago and I just felt like a constant burden because I couldnā€™t hold anything without the fear of flinging it across the room or dropping to the floor. So far Iā€™ve been too afraid of getting a job because I donā€™t want my seizures to cause a problem, and although my partner is supportive he also just has the ā€œthings were better when one person worked and the other person stayed at home to take care of everythingā€ which is frustrating because he doesnā€™t realize how much it suuucks to keep an apartment clean, and cook, and go to school, and do laundry, etc. I donā€™t think your stepdad is thinking that way unless heā€™s said anything to you, but depression really makes keeping spiraling thoughts in control difficult. Epilepsy alone sucks but depression and anxiety on top make it super difficult :/
