Hey y'all, do you ever get overstimulated and every sense in your body is heightened? Or your entire body feels wrong? I know stimming helps relieve it, and I love a good stim! I feel awkward stimming around people who aren't my "safe people." and then I have to repress the urge to stim and it makes me irritable! Anyone relate having to hide their ASD and desire to stim?

i am not diagnosed but i do have behaviors that can be described as stimming. i relate as well to the irritability and discomfort of suppressing them in spaces where i feel unsafe or uncomfortable

I'm with you on that one 100%. Sometimes I've been able to do more "socially acceptable" stims. Tapping my thigh or arm, something that won't cause people to ask invasive questions or otherwise be judgmental. But it's not a guarantee to take down the overstimulation.
