I'm 29 years old with triple negative breast cancer and am going through chemo. The doctors want me to have a double mastectomy but I love my boobs and personal appearance is important with me. I don't want the surgery because they can't guarantee that the cancer won't come back. i don't understand why I can't complete the chemo since it's working and have the mastectomy later if it comes back.

I am 48 and 2 years into remission. Mine was only in my left breast and I chose to have the double mastectomy which took my reoccurrence percentage down to <5%. I like those odds. I also chose to get implants. I had a one stop surgery. I went into surgery with the old pair, the cancer surgeon took both of them off, the plastic surgeon came in as soon as he was done and did the reconstruction, and I came out with a new pair! 😁 The only thing I was a little sad about is that my surgery was non-nipple sparing. So, now I have the choice to either have them also reconstructed or to have them tattoo'd on. I have seen pics of both and can't tell the difference. I'm leaning toward the tattoos, but haven't definitely decided. I'm happy with my decision to have both removed. It took so much of the "what if" off my mind.

I'm 4 years in remission from Triple- Negative. First off, Triple Negative is the "Beast-Bitch" of Breast Cancer. Highly Aggressive & Hard to Kill. Secondly, No Doctor can ever guarantee that cancer won't return. And it may NOT return in the area where it originally grew. You just have to decide how important your breasts really are. Are they worth your life? Implants are an option and much safer with a more natural feel these days than in years past. And who wouldn't want a nice rack that stays perky and firm forever? 😁 Good Luck and Prayers to you💜
😥I'm 60 and have triple negative breast cancer. When I was younger, i loved boobs so much, that i even got implants 30 years ago. I hear what you are saying. After chemo is done, they want to remove both my breasts also regardless if cancer is gone or not. I'm at the age where I think it just doesn't matter to me anymore or to my husband. I wont like having no chest in my clothes but as long as there are breast inserts for a bra, I'm ok with that.
I have stage four and have killed both of my breasts. I We consider having the mastectomy done if you are only a stage two Or three.
