Why do my PTSD cause my heart rate to increase and my face to get red? Do others get these symptoms? What can I do about it?

When you have PTSD you also tend to have a new sensitivity with your sympathetic nervous system, which controls fight or flight responses. Your heart rate and even blood pressure can increase with triggers rather small or big. This also happens during most panic and anxiety attacks, which are common to occur with trauma. Depending on the things triggering the issue it could be temporarily removing a triggering thing or slowly desensitizing yourself until your body gets used to be around it. Then there is after care so say you had flashbacks and an overwhelming response like you mentioned. After it ends do very calming things that calm the nervous system. The way someone handles that will be specific to them but those symptoms are very common.
