Dealing with the aftermath of a broken relationship

I hurt someone who I really loved and cared about. At some point I considered them the silverlining to my spiraling mental health. Then one day they hurt me and I hurt them. But no matter what, I couldn't bring myself to hate them. They wanted to stay friends through it all, but I just couldn't at the time. I was in so much emotional pain that I just couldn't handle it. It's been 2 years since then. I've tried to reconnect with them, and was met with a you've been blocked. I was of course sad about it, but I could completely understand why. Sometimes it takes others more time, and sometimes things are just better not picking up where you left off.
