my friend will hand me this specific stuffed animal and tell me to look at it and touch and pet it. it really helps ground me by trying to memorize all of the details of the plush chicken haha
My therapist said that finding grounding techniques are a great way to help. There's the conventional 5-4-3-2-1 method, and there is also controlled breathing. I haven't had the best luck with it, but its likely due to how often this needs to be practiced to become effective.
