First post here… I’ve been thinking, as someone who has all the odds stacked against them when it comes to losing weight, do I need to shed pounds if I’m otherwise completely healthy?

it's often more useful to focus on blood sugar + gut health, and on building muscle mass as part of your weight. also, being slightly overweight in terms of bmi is usually perfectly fine for your health, so if you're otherwise healthy it's likely not a big deal but as always, seek serious medical advice from professionals :)

Hi, being overweight is related to future morbidity and mortality from heart disease, blood vessel disease, diabetes, and more. Even if you are now completely healthy it does not mean that in the future you will not suffer from these diseases and by then, it will be too late to change. You have to take care of yourself for another 20 years now, and even if it seems that everything is fine, the damage is being done all the time.
