I am quitting my super toxic job. My last day is Wednesday. How can I best conquer this situational anxiety Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday? I’m an elementary school teacher, so I can’t exactly walk away to do self-care easily.

    🙋🏻‍♀️ also an elementary school teacher who once had to leave an extremely toxic job! Put your focus into your kids these next few days; try to ground yourself in where you are and what you’re doing in the moment so your mind doesn’t wander. And know that in a few days it’s going to be over!! You can do anything for three days!

    Congrats! It is super difficult to leave a toxic place. Can you have calming music in the classroom or maybe some soothing smells like lavender at your desk

    That’s a great idea! I do have lavender lotion that I can take to work with me. It should be easy to incorporate calming music while we do some things in class. Thank you!

    Hi, all! Thanks for the support and advice. Today was my last day. I cried leaving my students. They cried. We hugged. We took selfies. It was emotional, but on my way out my coworker said “I didn’t recognize you this morning. You seem happy. I can tell the stress and weight has lifted from you.” And that alone made me realize it was a good decision. I don’t know what’s next for me. I do know that I made the right choice to walk away.
