I have health anxiety about tiny spots of bright red blood in my toilet paper occasionally when wiping. I have been to doctor and they don’t seem worried since it’s not persistent. It seems to happen when I am constipated and straining to have a BM. What is going on?

@Kay2335 wow this is my exact story besides the fact that i didnt get practical advice from my doctor they just gave me a cream and off i went! Can i ask you how you are eating high fiber? What foods in particular are you eating or avoiding? I’m really curious as i’m struggling a lot :)

It’s almost like I’m reading my own story! I’ve been trough the same thing, and I still get freaked out when I see blood on the toilet paper. Right now I’m on miralax daily, and that has been helping me with the constipation, so it makes it easier to have a smooth BM hence no blood. 😁

I literally just went through a phase of thinking I had colon cancer. I had a day where blood was dripping after a bowel movement. Turns out it was hemorrhoids. I suffer from constipation so that constant straining can cause anal fissures or hemorrhoids. I was told to go on a high fiber diet. Try all bran buds. Life changing. Fiber heals the majority of colon issues.

I’m not a doctor, but this sounds like anal fissures which is harmless and very common with constipation. It’s good if the blood is bright red and just small dots because that means it’s not deep in your digestive tract.
