I’m not even sure I have Hashimoto’s. I was Diagnosed with it but my doctor seems very nonchalant and has only tested me twice in two years (is that enough?). I take armor, don’t really feel different.

What criteria is used to change hypo to hashimoto?
Hashimoto is a autoimmune disorder where as hypothyroid and hyperthyroidism is where the thyroid is either under active or over active. Hashimoto is where you body is attacking itself. Your constantly fighting against illness

@Doodie well I’m not sure . I don’t know how it happened actually. I got sick a couple of years ago . I’d gone on the keto diet and lost weight the first month but then gained it all back after . My dr said keto was really not a good healthy diet . Then got sick in 2020 ended up getting pots after but didn’t know for a long time what was wrong with me . Then my dr misdiagnosed me and gave me a high dose of prednisone which then got massive sick again and after loads of ER visits and cardiologist testing they just said it was not my heart but anxiety. I knew someone was wrong. I used to be a nurse . So I started researching. My hypothyroid went into hyper mode that’s what the Hashimoto can do . But been losing so much weight due to everything probably changed a lot of hormones around. The dr doesn’t understand it only said thyroid gland still working so taking off the meds . But it can go back at anytime. So just have to keep monitoring it . I’m still trying to figure out how to lower my TPO antibodies numbers . They were last only at 179 and that’s high but not as bad as a lot of people.
I had hypothyroid for 20 years and just recently diagnosed last year with Hashimoto. Now for some weird reason my hypothyroid is back to normal and I’m off the meds . But still have Hashimoto. Still have symptoms because it’s a autoimmune disease
I have Hashimoto’s and Grave’s disease and am only checked once a year if numbers are (mostly) stable. If you were diagnosed, you most likely have it but if your levels are normal, you likely won’t notice any huge symptoms/issues.
I am tested 1x/year. Being on meds has helped lots but with low thyroid I think there will always be lingering symptoms.
