Anyone lose their period with their IBD? Especially in the first year(s) of diagnosis? I’m not a fan of OB/Gyns wanting to mask it with birth control :(

Whenever I was having surgery or just starting to get treatment when I was first diagnosed I had very light/nonexistent periods. I believe it’s normal for them to be light or not occur because your body is under stress. Lots of people with eating disorders lose their periods as well because of the toll on their body. Hope this helped 🤗

I wouldn’t get mine for months at a time but I suspect it was from pcos not my stomach issue.
Hopefully!! What I notice is that if I’m losing a lot of blood that’s when my period tends to stop. I was anemic at one point and ended up having to take iron pills which I noticed helped when I finally got to remission. But I would talk to your primary doctor or even a wholistic doctor? Maybe they might have alternatives to birth control. I know changing my diet and drinking juices that get rid of ulcers have helped me get into remission
I haven’t ever been in remission, so I’m hoping that might be the difference…
For me in my first year I did lose my period. Then after that I would skip some months every now and then. I’m in my 4th year with it. Usually when I’m in remission my periods are normal. So I haven’t really skipped any in a while they just tend to come later.
