Venting About Autism Discrimination and Its Effects

Time to vent: I'm going through it right now. Just got a 40 day notice that I need to move out of my place. Not eviction, but Landowner and housemate terminating the rental agreement. And the reason why... side effects of my Autism. No attempt to problem solve etc. I can't talk to my family because they tell each other everything and we'll word gets to mom, she would take it as vindication... so here I am using multiple places in my accessible areas. I am so angry cause it takes my comfort in the house and trust from her, but also that this kind of discrimination isn't just me... it's perpetuating the problems that the disability/neurodivergence community has faced for all it's history including homelessness l, joblessness, etc.

      That's awful. It's hard enough that renters don't have enough security in their housing, but even worse for those of us who find that kind of uncertainty/change more challenging. I hope you find something else suitable quickly! 🤞

      This does sound highly illegal as everyone else is saying. Unless you are destroying property or not paying for an extended amount of time they can't do anything like this.

        @Gingeralamode It's a month to month agreement and technically landlords can cancel agreement within the contract for any reason... With month to month agreements it gives me more flexibility, but same too with landowner. We both enter essentially a new contract each month. 30 days needs to be given by either party, as such she is within her rights as far as I know. I did reach out to some organizations that offer support with housing, so hopefully we will figure things out.
