How do you deal with grief? Every time I feel like I have moved foreword or gotten past it, something reminds me and I’m right back in all the feelings again.

I know it's hard to move forward after loss. I'm not sure whether you're talking about grief from losing a loved one, but I heard something really beautiful the other day that touched me heart around moving forward. "When you truly love someone you give them a piece of your soul. And they give you a piece of theirs. When they die, a piece of your soul dies with them. That's part of why the pain is so unbearable and crushing. But you have to remember, a piece of their soul lives on in you. And as you move through your life in this world, you bring them with you and they get to see the world through your eyes." It's ok that the pain comes in waves. That means that what you had was truly Sirraum and connected to you. I think when you cherish the depth of what you shared, the growth, the experiences, the memories you find that through all the pain of grief there is beauty. And then you can let that pain wash over you and through you to discover your soul is beautiful and wiser for having the experience.

My therapist said grief never really goes away but the waves get smaller and less frequent over time and you get better at dealing with them. There’s a great 10 minute Ted talk a woman gives about this. I’ll try to find it. I’m sorry for your grief. Of all the feelings it’s definitely the hardest one to live with.
