So I haven't been to therapy in a while but I know it's much needed. If anyone else has severe depression and goes how often do you go and how do you motivate yourself to want to go?

I have an option to have a call therapy session and it has been so helpful! I don't even have to get out of my pjs

Teletherapy has been a game changer for me. I also finally found an amazing therapist and I commit to therapy because she doesn't speak to me like just a patient, she talks to me like a genuine friend and it makes therapy feel like a nice conversation rather than talking to a doctor and feeling vulnerable. Search around for therapists with high reviews, interview them, etc. It changes everything.

Once wintertime hit, my depression got worse, and I started going back to therapy every Saturday. It’s hard to stay motivated, but I found a therapist that I really like, and that kinda motivates me to go. Before her, I never had a therapist I actually liked. They were always by the book and forced me to talk. But this one is different, and gave me a new outlook on therapy.

I haven't been in therapy for a while either. but when I was going, I went once a week. How I motivated myself was, that it's a relatively short amount of time and that I had the chance to seek out answers during it. I also would treat myself if I had a particularly difficult time, like using a nice candle. also always trying to recognize my hard work and applaud myself for that. cuz it really is hard!

Best motivation for me is thinking about how much more exhausting it is to just let the depression run wild. For me I wanted to do the thing that required the least energy at all times. I got out of bed and went to school because my mother would practically force me so it took less energy to just listen. Think about although it feels like a lot to go you have to continue to put uo with the exhaustion of depression everyday which feels like wayyy more energy to me personally lol

I use betterhelp!! I went through a few therapists before I found one that fit best, that took a few months. but I see her once a week and I get to choose my day and time. I can be wearing pajamas, or just finishing up getting groceries and can hop on my scheduled video call. I can message her anytime, mostly just to vent about my day or whatever is upsetting me. if it's urgent, she gets back with me quickly.
