Therapy, meds, all these help. Also distract yourself. You are smart, you know these are not your normal thoughts, they stand out. So ignore, distract, watch something, talk to someone, do anything that takes up your thoughts.

Finding things to distract yourself from it is important and so is talking to people about it. Feel free to reach out if you ever want somebody to talk to :)
I have OCD too. I got treatment through NOCD. Treatment was covered by insurance. All therapists understand OCD and specialize in ERP. To get started go to www.treatmyocd.com and schedule a free call. Recovery is possible.
If you can, i would definitely recommend getting a therapist. Mine doesn’t normally suggest medication quickly but because of my ocd she thought it would be helpful. It is hard for the therapy to work when your thoughts are extremely overwhelming, which is where the meds can help. I take prozac and lamictal and have been going to therapy for about six months and I have really seen a big difference. Of course you can’t get rid of the thoughts but a combination of medication and therapy helps quiet them down so you can live without the thoughts always taking over your mind.
