Rome63 I'm on Risperdal to stabilize my mood my psychiatrist said and I'm on Zoloft for depression . I'm not bipolar or have PTSD but was hospitalized for depression 3 times in the 80s.im a long term AA nember so my psychiatrist gave me Naltrexoone which just takes the craving for alcohol away cause I went through a short term depression again this past August and my psychiatrist gave me naltrexone so im not tempted to drink If I get depressed. Also it's crucial I don't drink alcohol because I was diagnose with diabetes type2 on February 14, 2019. But I wanted to share that's how I was treated with my condition to stabilize my mood. Oh! My name is Rosemary . Rome is my nickname.

I've been diagnosed with severe depression along with other mental health issues since 94. And living in different states besides Mi. Besides the stigma that goes with depression from others there's only been a very few good psychiatrists and one psychologist that I've worked with. That's pretty sad, especially, when some states just don't have adequate Drs to help. Second opinions never hurt trying new treatments won't hurt either. It is tiring trying to find Drs after Drs though. As long as u like who you are seeing and the care they r giving and you feel you are moving in the right direction, that's what matters.

It might be good to have a second opinion though.

Iā€™ve been on Wellbutrin for years now and it actually helped with my anxiety but not 100%. Itā€™s an upper and CAN increase anxiety. I started vyvanse recently and that helped my anxiety even more. Apparently ADHD meds can help anxiety!

If meds work for people with depression hats off to you. I'm one of many, I'm sure, where no amount of meds or combination of meds worked. Nor ECT, even therapy. Believe it or not not all things work for people and that's ok. It took along time for me to say it's ok that what may work for most people don't work for me. If you find yourself in this situation, try ketamine treatments. Read up on it and see if it's right for you.

I honestly have been on every med on the Market. Feel good for a week then nothing. I've been going to the same therapist and psychiatrist for 30 yrs and they do what I ask. At 48 while sitting waiting to b seen, I was reading a pamphlet about a new medicine and how it worked. I liked what it said so I told my doc. He started me off slow. It worked but wore off so he upped it and upped it till I'm good. Not great but what I liked about it was it gave me energy which made me happier which helped with my anxiety and PSTD. I still use Xanax for panic attacks but those r far and few between now.

You gotta add a mood stabilizer. Wellbutrin can make anxiety worse and also bipolar. Prozac can also make the bipolar worse without a mood stabilizer if you are truly bipolar. Everyone reacts different to meds, but for sure something for anxiety and mood stabilization is needed here. I am not a doctor, but have had mental health issues my whole life and have ton countless reading and been to countless doctors and been on countless medications. So I have some experience dealing with all this. I encourage you to read read and read, knowledge is power! We also must advocate for ourselves and make the doctor listen to us(very important) if you need someone to be strong and advocate for you in your appointments bring them! If none of that works then maybe find another doctor that will listen to you.
