What does “processing” trauma look like to you? How do you know that you’ve processed something?

Processing trauma for me is going from deflecting with humor to being able to hold a serious conversation about the trauma, and really verbally work through it with another person

In the last year, I’ve been followed by the phrase “Healing isn’t linear.” I swear it pops up everywhere.

Thank you. I do a lot of painting/art too. I feel like the more I talk about what happened, the more my “style”, or whatever you want to call it, regresses. These days, I’m lying on the floor on my belly finger painting.

I like to draw/paint things to process trauma. For me, I know I’m done processing it when I can think of the trauma without it hijacking my emotions.
