does anyone ever feel ashamed to be on mental health medication? i genuinely love my medication and i’m so grateful for it but i’ve gotten these moments (particularly when my dosages are bumped up or changed) where suddenly i feel some shame that my brain doesn’t do what it needs to do on its own. it doesn’t happen often and i’m so sure it’s because of some socialized stigma around mental illness but i just want to know that i’m not alone in getting that feeling sometimes i don’t actually think i have anything to be ashamed of, so it’s a really confusing feeling for me

❤️❤️ you're not alone..I have depression, PTSD and anxiety issues, and the meds I take generally help, and I'm thankful for them, but I do feel ashamed..like I should be happy like most ppl are,but my brain is like hard wired to feel bad..when I DO feel good,I always wait for the other shoe to drop. In other words,I feel guilty because I'm not depressed or anxious. Hope this helps you🤗

i feel the same way sometimes but i just try to remind myself that it’s the same thing as taking vitamin d supplements since my body doesn’t naturally make/absorb enough (or whatever other example you wanna use)
