do other autistic people have a hard time seeing the resemblance between people and animals? like when people make those posts that say dogs always look like their owners I never see it. feel like I could be onto something here

I get it! In cartoons and they try to match the animals with the owners I never quite understand why they match! Like in secret life of pets! I just don't quite understand

I don't have that issue at all I can definitely see that. Do you have any difficulty reading animal body language in this case especially dogs? Thats a pretty large part of it a lot of dog owners unconsciously both adopt dogs with at least one similar physical feature as themselves, familiarity and all, and take up some of the dogs body language at least when they're around their dog. It could be something some autistic people have issues with this particularly because you have difficulty with body language as a whole or with animal body language, another option is difficulty with telling similarities in physical characteristics between humans and animals. That would also make sense to why it doesn't effect me since I permanently have the body language of someone raised by wolves so I don't actually know how to come off like a human being lol. It's because my autism makes it so I have hyper empathy and a special interest for animals and plants with no empathy for humans, hence my user name, so for me I guess it makes it a bit easier.

@AnimalBoy I'm actually pretty in tune with animals, I work with dogs as a job. I just have no idea how people see them like physically similar to people like... that's an animal.

@woodworm people usually correlate animal traits to human traits like fur being similar to hair as well as matching it to some aesthetics/clothes so a goth person with dark hair and clothing and a black cat would be considered to look like their pet, as well as traits like fluffy pomeranian like dogs and facial hair, body language and temperament so a ditzy but excitable person with dog body language and a similar dog might be considered to look a like when seen together, and things like size so a small/short person with black hair and chubby cheeks and a dumbo black rat might be considered similar looking because of the shared traits. It also works with multiple pets and work out better when there's compound traits, all of these examples are me lol
