I’ve started taking spironolactone for severe acne. It’s been about 3 months and it has helped a lot but my skin is not completely clear yet. I feel very tired all the time and I’m worried about eating too much potassium because I read that you should limit your potassium intake while on spironolactone. I’m taking 100 mg once a day. Should I be really worried about limiting my potassium or should I just eat a normal diet and cut out foods really high in potassium. My doctor didn’t say anything about a diet change when she prescribed the drug to me

Also, 25 MG to start with but it wasn't doing enough so raised to 50 MG 2/14. I avoided potassium in the begining but now I fill my diet with foods rich in vitamins, potassium being one of them. =]

Go for blood work to check potassium levels. I go 3 weeks after the initial dose and 3 weeks after the increase. I felt much happier on it, noticed it in the first few days of taking it. I can't tell if it really was/is the Spironolactone or if it was the brain tumor. I'm in the middle of changing from Keppra to vimpat becaaaause Keppra rage. 😅😅

I’ve been taking 150mg a day for the last 5-6ish years and I never changed my diet! In fact I eat a banana every day for breakfast and I’m perfectly fine! Just keep an eye out if you feel weird…everybody is different
