Hi! I was diagnosed with Orthostatic hypotension this year. What are some things, outside of medication, that have helped you all?

My life changed with liquid iv. If your not drinking it, please try it!!! I also sat down and planned how to increase my over all health- diet, exersice, sleep, hobbies, ect. And I started tracking each symptom and what I was doing at that time. Now I know to not go out in the hot hot sun and weed the garden. Its unfortunately like living on a balance beam of health. I should be healthy anyway, but if I slip, I'll tumble into a pit of symptoms. At least when I'm on top everything functions and I feel well.

If feeling weak when your bp drops, if standing cross your legs and arms, and push the palms of your hands together as hard as you can. These help force bp up and can save you from ending up on the floor

I have POTS and take midodrine, Mestinon, do salt tablets as needed and I have a portacath and do IV saline infusions every day because my POTS is very severe but has gotten better with the infusions. I also wear compression socks all day except at night time for bed and an abdominal binder. I drink V8 juice once in a while because my neurologist said that helps since it has a lot of sodium and I stay hydrated with an electrolyte called Liquid IV. Hope any of these help

Hi! Thanks! I recently started taking prescription Midodrine and noticed a big improvement. My blood pressure went from 80/50 to 100/60. Also, physical activity has helped a lot. I started with short walks and seated workouts and 7 month later I’m doing 50 minute workout classes 5 times a week. I wanted to share what has helped me!

This sounds super basic, but my mom (who has it too) told me to eat a lot of salt and straight up chug water. It actually helps me raise my blood pressure when it drops too fast. I also try sitting up a little, I think it helps.

Hi! Nothing has helped, even the medication. That’s why I turned here
