Try to keep your energy if you are on chemo plus radiation. Drink a good amounts of fluids and yes keep your body moving… eat a lot of protein as cancer waste the body with protein, plus you want to keep your energy too.

Stage 2 rectal cancer. Diagnosed early March. Just finished oral chemo (xeloda) with 25 treatments of radiation. Taking a break till I start IV chemo on June 6th. Diarrhea and nausea are the worst side effects that I’ve experienced. It slowly gets better everyday. I have dark spots in my finger tips from the xeloda. Keeping my hands moisturized with a product called Egyptian magic. It’s preventing my finger tips from peeling.

@JAHudzz i had almost exact same treatment as you 25 radiation and chemo. Rest then surgery then 3 more months of Chemo. (Xeloda does some weird stuff doesn't it) Feeling stronger everyday. My advice is to keep moving as much as you can. It truly is the key to getting better. I was so tired that last month of chemo. I really caused myself more problems by just laying down. Now I am in Physical therapy to regain strength. Keep moving!
@DukeandIsa2 thank you so much for your advice. I’m working on moving more on my better days. I have 6 rounds of chemo and I’m already done with three. For me it gets easier each time I go in for infusion. Stay hydrated as much as you can. I believe drinking plenty of water is helping me feel not so nauseous. I found sugar free electrolyte powder called nectar. This helps when I don’t feel like taking a lot of liquids but it helps me stay hydrated. Keep on going!! I’m rooting for you!!

Stage 1 rectal cancer in March of this year. No treatments were needed / recommended. Only a flexible sigmoidoscopy with resection was performed to remove the tumor. Recent Labs and imaging back clear 🙏. I am so thankful, my monitoring will be over the next 5 years.

Is it weird that I'm so excited to find a platform with folks that have been through the same medical situations?
@DukeandIsa2 nope I'm glad I have a community of people who can converse about our serious health scares. Sometimes friends and family don't understand and it's nice to have someone who understands the roller coaster of the journey because they're all different.

@acesgirl My chemo treatments caused sensitivity to cold and heat, but didn't last two weeks when the next treatment started. I had 12 chemo treatments in all, then surgery.
@acesgirl I had colon cancer diagnosed in January 2021, and went thru port install and 12 chemo treatments, one every 2 weeks, then surgery Sept. 8, 2021. I had prostate, bladder, and 10 inches of my colon and rectum removed. I'm still recovering after 8 months, but I'm slowly getting better.
