Manipulation in any form, emotional abuse is real abuse. It's never "it was only once", that screams dv to me. I've experienced it all and I can usually see it in other relationships of people I know.

My abuser is my 3 daughters dad. He hasn't been abusive in YEARS due to being incarcerated for something non violent. Yet I can't be myself around him He very judgemental. Our 2 oldest daughters don't like him. He acts like he father of year now. It's tooooo much to type. He has had MULTIPLE children around our last 2 daughters were made/born. I'm just soooo confused about y I'm with him.

I went through a few years of domestic violence with my partner. That included physical, mental and emotional abuse. I was hit a few times, but always in paces that were easy to cover up, never in the face. He would break things alot and fly of the handle suddenly over everyday stressors like talking about bills or groceries. He also isolated me from my friends saying they were a bad influence. It was a hard time for me and my daughter and we both have PTSD from it.

@SunShyne34 the taking of the car or house keys, turning off or taking phones.. control of any kind is scary

Honestly for me it can be any one or any mixture of verbal abuse, physical abuse, or emotional abuse from your significant other. For me it was a mixture of all three through out my 12 year marriage to my ex husband. I finally had enough one day seeing my young daughter crying every day and extremely depressed because of what she saw going on between her father and I and I left.
