Does anyone have a handicapped sticker? If so, what type of doctor prescribed it? With my POTS, hypermobility syndrome, Yao’s, and MCAS, walking can be really difficult. I’m active most days but doctors won’t give me a handicapped pass bc they don’t want me to stop moving/“be lazy.” I try to explain that it’s just for when my joints are dislocating or I’m having fainting spells or in too much pain to walk. They all dismiss me or say “if you can’t walk, you can’t drive.” How do you respond to this?

Idk if this is helpful at all because my situation is very luck and unheard of for chronically I’ll people, but I found a PCP who is absolutely incredible and listens to me. I use a walker to get around and I can’t drive anymore due to dizziness and presyncope. I brought my diagnostic papers from Mayo Clinic and labs and explained all of my symptoms and had my adoptive mom there to advocate for me. I told him why we wanted the parking and that I get dizzy out of nowhere so the closer I am to ab entrance, the better and he said to just fill out the paperwork and bring it and he would be happy to sign it off for me.
