hi is there any BFAB’s diagnosed autistic (“asbergers”) who is also was diagnosed (before “asbergers”) with bpd? how was it trying to get diagnosed as autistic for you? i am diagnosed with bpd but i have enough proof to feel confident to approach being autistic (deep studies in my dna and also symptoms and talking to people and them even pushing support for me going for an autism diagnosis) - and i’ve hit a wall with my therapist due to my bpd diagnosis. he’s now not my therapist and i’m back to square one, but i’d love to hear peoples stories. thanks!
the support i have been provided by family/friends who have been clinically diagnosed themselves has helped me have confidence in it not just being bpd.
i wasn’t diagnosed with bpd before but i did have some other diagnosis’ that were “explaining” my autistic traits. when i met with a therapist who specialized in people afab with autism, it opened up doors to my correct diagnosis :) it helps to find someone who really knows the way autism is a different experience for amab & afab ppl, otherwise you could run into issues with those age old stigmas. best of luck!!!!
(I read bfab as AFAB, which I am, but let me know if that's not correct) I have those things in reverse order- I was given a "provisional" autism diagnosis for school in second grade and an official diagnosis at 16. This year I was in the hospital and my discharge paperwork said I was treated for a cluster b personality disorder, I'm told they probably mean BPD so I'm looking into that now. I know they have a lot of the same symptoms so it's a common misdiagnosis both ways. I'm not sure whether you can have both
